John and Char Miller draw on 20 yrs of experience designing, installing and managing landscape projects in over 5 states. As a team we focus on creating site specific, family oriented landscape/outdoor solutions that balance creativity with sustainability, form and function.

8 STEP LANDSCAPE PLAN AND PROCESS:

  1. Initial contact (Phone call, Email, Messenger, Text etc) and appointment date

  2. Questionnaire and design meeting

  3. Design concept meeting and pre-estimate

  4. Final presentation and project proposal

  5. Project installation and/or construction

  6. 6 week project follow up and plant care manual meeting

  7. Establish property management and long term care

  8. 1 year evaluation

property analysis and evaluation:

  1. Record all existing plant material, vegetation, hardscapes and structures - evaluate.

  2. Record elevations, grading, wind, sun or draining issues.

  3. Measure and photograph home and property.

  4. Make notations on property concerns, downspouts, pet runs, windows, access, traffic and special needs.

FORM + FUNCTION AND CREATING A CLIENT EXPERIENCE PLAN:

  1. Determine how property is to be used based on client questionnaire and notes.

  2. Determine placement of deck, patio, driveway, walkways and plants.

  3. Determine pedestrian and vehicular traffic patterns and privacy concerns.

  4. Determine sun angles, wind and water flow and how it affects the property and homeowners.

  5. Determine any special needs and/or pet considerations.

  6. Determine storage or facility needs - (i.e. Backyard office designs or work stations).

  7. Drainage schemes.

  8. Enhancments, specialty gardens and features - (herben, vegetable, meditation or edible gardens).

PRELIMINARY CONCEPT DESIGNS AND MEETING:

  1. Outdoor spaces and functions begin to materialize and take the form of a Conceptual landscape plan.

  2. Concept lines, borders and seperation points begin to frame the new characteristics of the landscape plan.

  3. Prior to completion of a concept plan a meeting will be set to collaborate, evaluate and assess the design with the client.

  4. Cost analysis and budget will be discussed at this time.

FINAL PLANT AND HARDSCAPE PLAN - PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION PRESENTATION:

  1. Common and botanical plant names - quantities, sizes and location.

  2. Suggested hardscape materials and sample material may be necessary.

  3. Construction material.

  4. Contract, guarantee forms and warranty information.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TIMELINE:

  1. Project timeline and expectations discussed.

  2. Needs and capabilities to be discussed.

  3. Final Pre-installation walk through with client.
